St Nicholas is a friendly, traditional Church of England parish church the diocese of York.

People of all ages are welcome at all our services, which are held in our beautiful and historic church building on Church Street.

Our Rector is supported in his ministry by an Assistant Curate, an Honorary Assistant, two Readers and a small Ministry team.

We also run a number of active groups and activities – details of which you will find in the groups and Diary sections of these web pages.

The Parish is ‘managed’ through the Parochial Church Council (generally known as the PCC) and a number of groups and committees dealing with various aspects associated with the running of the church. These include a Standing Committee, Finance Committee, Fabric Committee (effectively ‘buildings and contents’), Fellowship Group & Communications Group.

The church has a strong musical tradition which is reflected in the structure and content of the weekly services of Family Communion and Evensong, and we have an enthusiastic group of servers of all ages who perform important parts of the Church Sunday ritual.
